1.7 Poker Table Selection
Now you have Party Poker downloaded, you’ve opened a new account and made a deposit of $25 into your account, we can now look at which table to select ie: which is the most profitable table.
Click on Cash Games in the left hand navigation menu and select No Limit Hold'em from the Game Name selection list and $0.05 / 0.10 NL from the Stakes/Blinds list at the top. The tables we are looking for are the $0.05/0.10 tables with 9 players on a table (or 9 players on Bodog described as $10max). Throughout this course we will be playing on full tables of 9 or 10 player tables so you can ignore the shorthanded (6 player) tables for now.

As you look at the table available you will see a number of statistics here, the one we are interested in is the % of players seeing the Flop on Party Poker this is shown in the Plrs/Flop column.
What this number is telling us is the average % of the players at the table who see each flop. The basic rule of thumb here is that the higher this number is, then the more fish (bad players) the table contains.
Why? Because as you have already learnt, fish chase bad cards, they play hands that they should just fold, and hence you get more players trying to play each flop without any kind of proper hand selection.
A table with a lower percentage would indicate better players, so if you saw a table with 5% then this table has a lot of better players, who don’t play with hands they shouldn’t.
As you can see from the % on Party Poker and Bodog Poker there are plenty of fish for us to catch, with lots of tables above 20% which is very good.
