Now you understand the basics of our strategy, you are ready to practice it on a low stakes table.

Load up Party Poker (or Bodog Poker for US players) and log into your account (if you have not already installed Party Poker / Bodog Poker and opened an account click here to go back to the section with instructions on how to do so).

Click on Cash Tables and select the Cash Game section. We are looking for the No Limit Hold'em section of the list. The tables we are looking for are the $0.05/0.10 tables (described as $10max on Bodog) with 9 or 10 players on a table. It is important you only select full 9 or 10 man tables as shorthanded tables require a slightly different strategy.

Look for the table with the highest percentage of Players per Flop (Plrs/Flop), remember from earlier, the higher the percentage the more fish at the table. Anything over 20% is fine but the higher the better.

It doesn't matter which seat you sit at so choose a seat at your selected table and sit down with $7.50 from your bankroll of $25. Your Goal here is to make a profit of $2, or spend at least an hour trying. Follow the starting hand charts exactly and don’t be tempted to do anything differently. You may make $2 in the first hand, or it may take you a lot longer to get to your target.

Use this exercise to get used to selecting which starting hands to play and which not to play according to the Starting Hands chart and get used to understanding what position you are in at the table.

Don’t get too carried away at this stage though, play conservatively and be aware that someone may have a better hand than you. We are going to learn in more detail about betting after the flop later in the course.
