Chip leader Steve Crawford was involved in the action right from the start when he claimed the first elimination of the day. Mark McKibben moved all in from the small blind holding
and Crawford made the call from the big blind holding
. When the board came down
it was no help to McKibben who left in 9th place and collected $42,655.
Short stack David Schnettler had no time to waste with killer blinds of 20,000 / 40,000 he had to pick and spot and move and he did so holding
and he was called by Blair Rodman who was holding
. The board of
ensured that Schnettler was the 8th place finisher and took home a prize of $55,637.
Rodman continued to be in the centre of the action when he was holding
he called the all in of Joe Pelton who was holding
. Rodman hit a king on the turn to eliminate Pelton in 7th place good for $74,183.
Top European pro Roland De Wolfe was next to be eliminated when he got all his chips in with
and was called by Amato Galasso who was well behind holding
. Galasso went on to hit a club flush however and the unlucky De Wolfe was out in 6th place collecting $98,293.
Early Chip leader Crawford was the next to suffer as his stack was severely dented in a crucial hand with Amato Galasso he was left short and moved all in holding J-8 and was called by Klein Kim Bach who was holding A-10. The ace high was good enough to win the pot and the early hopes of Crawford were crushed as he was eliminated in 5th place collecting $135,384.
On the very next hand Bach continued in the action and eliminated another shortstack in Anna Wroblewski when she made a move with K-4 and was called by Bach holding A-9 which held up. Wroblewski left in 4th place and collected $192,876.
The next elimination was a real cooler, with all three players involved in the pot and seeing a flop of
. Galasso got out of the way when Rodman bet but Bach called and we saw a turn card of
. Following a river of
Bach moved all in and was called by Rodman. Bach was confident of winning the pot turning over his full house with
but Rodman turned over
for a bigger full house and took down the huge pot and eliminated Bach in 3rd place with his only consolation being the $289,314 prize he got.
Heads up play began and Rodman had a more than 2-1 chip lead over Galasso:
- Blair Rodman — 5,550,000
- Amato Galasso — 2,600,000
Galasso however was not going to back down and slowly over the next 20 hands regained the chip lead and at one point reduced Rodman’s stack to just 1.7m. Things then spun back round again with Rodman came back at Galasso. One of the many hands Rodman won was when he won a big pot with a heart flush that hit on the river and many other hands where strong play forced Galasso to fold and surrender the pots.
The decisive hand came when Rodman once again moved all in with
and this time was met by the
of Galasso but when the flop came down
Rodman took the lead and the turn of

brought no help for Galasso to give Blair Rodman his first WSOP bracelet and the 1st place prize of $707,898.
