WSOP Event #43 - $2,000 Limit Holdem

The final table for Event #43 the $2,000 Limit Holdem tournament took place quietly as all the worlds media concentrated on the glitz of the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E final table which was going on at the same time.
The final table of Event #43 lined up as follows:
- Seat 1: Justin Pechie - 147,000
- Seat 2: Saif Ahmad - 322,000
- Seat 3: Joe Mandia - 259,000
- Seat 4: Gerald Kane - 129,000
- Seat 5: William Jensen - 245,000
- Seat 6: Hal Havlisch - 30,000
- Seat 7: Robert Pacleb - 104,000
- Seat 8: Tommy Rounds - 406,000
- Seat 9: Michael Graffeo - 250,000
The table jumped straight into action at this final table with the various short stacks trying to make their move. Hal Havlisch and Robert Pacleb both survived their moves but Gerald Kane didn’t and he was the first to leave in 9th place collecting $13,745.
Joe Mandia lost out in a huge pot with Justin Pechie and was left in the danger zone with a desperate short stack. In the next hand his journey was over when William Jenson made a broadway straight on the river to eliminate Mandia in 8th place and $18,899.
Fellow short stack Robert Pacleb despite his best efforts was next to leave after his A-K was beaten by the K-Q of Havlisch when a queen came on the flop. Pacleb finished in 7th place and took home $25,771.
The remaining player who was shortstacked going into the final table was Havlisch and he had managed to survive this long with a number of double ups along the way. But his day was to end next when he moved all in with K-J he was called by the big blind Michael Graffeo who held 10-9. When Graffeo hit trips on the flop then Havlisch left in 6th place collecting $34,365.
Our 5th place finisher was Tommy Rounds when he was beaten by Saif Ahmad whose flopped pair of jacks held up to win the pot. Rounds collected $43,811 for his 5th place finish.
Justin Pechie up and down day continued and he was eventually the next to be eliminated when he though he was infront with pocket kings after a flop of
but his all in was called by William Jensen who had flopped a straight holding
and sent Pechie home in 4th place with a prize of $59,274.
Both William Jensen and Saif Ahmad continued to extend their lead over Michael Graffeo and he could hold out much longer when he moved all in holding
after a flop of
but was called by Jensen who had out flopped him holding
which sent Graffeo out in 3rd place collecting $88,481.
Heads up play and both players delivered hits to the other until eventually it Ahmed hit an Ace high straight on the river to beat Jensen’s two pair and Ahmed took home the bracelet and 1st place prize of $217,329.
