WSOP Event #42 - $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo

Event #42 broke all records for a Pot Limit Omaha tournament with the largest field ever recorded in this type of tournament.
No one at the final table had won a WSOP bracelet before and when the final 9 sat down the line up looked as follows:
- Seat 1: Mark Wilds - 96,000
- Seat 2: Dario Alioto - 61,000
- Seat 3: George Danzer - 116,000
- Seat 4: Thomas Hant - 114,000
- Seat 5: Chad Brown - 390,000
- Seat 6: David Bach - 502,000
- Seat 7: Lukasz Dumanski - 358,000
- Seat 8: James Tolley - 282,000
- Seat 9: Gene Timberlake - 143,000
Short stack Dario Alioto made an assault on the final table right from the first hand. He first doubled up and then went on to cripple George Danzer when he made a full house. This left Danzer desperate and he was the first to be eliminated after he held
and on a flop of
his set looked good. But his opponent Thomas Hant who held
hit running hearts on the turn of

to make a flush and eliminate Danzer in 9th place collecting $13,597.
Next player to go was Mark Wilds when he went all in before the flop holding
and was called by Alioto who held
. After a board of
Alioto won the high pot with no low available and eliminated Wilds in 8th place good for $18,755.
Thomas Hant’s day was next to end when holding
found himself up against Gene Timberlake’s
. When the flop brought trip 10’s for Timberlake then Hant was eliminated in 7th place and took home $25,319 for his efforts.
Shortstack Alioto had put up a great fight at this final table and managed to remain long past his due. But it was him who was next to be eliminated when both he and David Bach had an overpair to the board, however Alioto’s queens were dominated by Bach’s kings and with no low pot Alioto was sent home in 6th place collecting $33,759.
David Bach then went onto eliminate experienced pro Chad Brown when he hit his flush on the river to beat Chad Browns two pair and send Brown out in 5th place together with a prize of $43,606.
Down to four handed and by this stage Gene Timberlake was a shortstack and was soon to fall. When he got all his money in the middle his
was behind to Bach’s
and no help came to him on the board, meaning that he was eliminated in 4th place and collected $60,485.
The next elimination came on a big hand where first James Tolley raised to 120,000 and was called by David Bach. Then Lukasz Dumanski re-raised to 480,000 and Tolley responded by moving all in for $510,000. Bach got out of the way and left Dumanski to battle it out with Tolley. Tolley held
and Dumanski held
. When the board of
then Dumanski won both the high pot with a straight and the low pot with a 7 low. Tolley was eliminated in 3rd place collecting $91,900.
Down to heads up play and it wasn’t long before this tournament was decided. After just 10 minutes of play Dumanski who was a dominant chip leader finished off David Bach when all the chips went in with Bach’s
behind to the
of Dumanski. With no help on the board Bach was eliminated in 2nd place collecting $139,725 while Dumanski took the bracelet and the 1st place prize of $227,454.
