With 55 events to fit in, the 2007 World Series of Poker is running to a tight schedule and on Monday the $2,500 H.O.R.S.E event was due for a long day with it being scheduled to be completed by the end of the night.
The final 20 runners took their places at the tables and as play began it was Ali Eslami who was the chip leader.
The first players to be eliminated were John Gale, David Botton and Jason Sagle who earnt $7,995 for their 17th to 20th position finishes.
During the next segment of the Omaha Hi/Lo format that the tournament directors had to be called in to make a controversial ruling. Ali Eslami had made a final bet in the hand of 8k and as Harry Kazazian was considering the bet he placed chips in front of the button. Interpreting this as a call Eslami turned over his cards to show the winning Hi hand and a split of the Lo pot with Kazazian. Kazazian claimed that he hadn’t made any action but the tournament director ruled that the placement of the chips was to be taken as a call.
Alexandra Vuong was the final table bubble and finished in 9th position, which gave us the final table lineup:
- Seat 1: Ali Eslami - 507,000
- Seat 2: Robert Mizrachi - 262,000
- Seat 3: Herb Van Dyke - 130,000
- Seat 4: Harry Kazazian - 85,000
- Seat 5: James Richburg - 487,000
- Seat 6: Tom Schneider - 20,500
- Seat 7: Walter Browne - 207,500

Early exits from the final table were Harry Kazazian in 8th place ($18,011), Herb Van Dyke in 7th place ($24,601) and Robert Mizrachi in 6th place ($32,069).
With five players left the chip standings looked like this:
- Chris Bjorin - 527,000
- James Richburg - 527,000
- Walter Browne - 401,000
- Tom Schneider - 304,000
- Ali Eslami - 153,000
Earlier chip leader Ali Eslami was the next to exit after he got all in with 5-4 on a board of A-10-3-5 and was behind to James Richburgs Q-10 and couldn’t recover. Eslami left in 5th place with $42,612.
We skipped through the Omaha and Razz sections of the H.O.R.S.E format before the next elimination in the Seven Card Stud section. Tom Schneider’s pair of eights wasn’t enough to beat Richburg’s pair of kings and Schneider exited in 4th place with $54,193 in his pocket.
Richburg and Walter Browne were dominating the table at this stage and there wasn’t much Chris Bjorin could do. It was during the limit section that Bjorin was finally eliminated in 3rd place taking home $83,467.
Heads up and Richburg had a significant chip lead over Walter Browne. Browne showed some fight back during the next Omaha section but then the decisive moment came during the Razz section. Browne was all in with (5-2)-7 against the (4-2)-3 of Richburg and Richburg went onto make a great Razz hand of 6-4-3-2-A awarding him the Bracelet and 1st prize of $239,503.
