2006 World Series of Poker – Las Vegas
The event every poker player waits for each year has arrived. The 2006 World Series of Poker has begun, and promises to be the most exciting year in WSOP history.
The WSOP is taking place at the Harrah’s Rio-All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas for the second year in a row, after the size and sheer number of participants outgrew its previous and more famous home of Binions Horseshoe.
The marathon event will run for 7 weeks up until the final of the main event on the 10th August. There will be 44 separate events in which players can compete for a coveted World Series of Poker gold bracelet and the title of winning a WSOP event.
The highlight of the series will be the $10,000 No-Limit Texas Holdem World Championship Event which commences on 28th July.
The World Series of Poker is the most prestigious poker tournament in the world and every poker enthusiast will be doing everything to take part, or be glued to a television screen to watch the year’s biggest poker event.
For months and months now, players have been battling it out online to win their seats at the WSOP, and provide themselves with a chance they normally wouldn’t have, due to the high entrance fees to the events which most average poker players couldn’t afford.
Last years World Series of Poker shattered all participation and prize money records for a live poker tournament. The 45 events generated 32,341 player entries and more than $106 million in gross prize money. Jo Hachem of Australia, became a household name by winning the main event and walking away with an unprecedented prize of $7.5 million.
No doubt this year’s event will see more records smashed and lifelong memories created.
