Every poker enthusiast was amazed at the success of Annette Obrestad when she became the champion of the main event of the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) held in London. Annette was also very close in winning her second main title at the European Poker Tour (EPT) event in Dublin but just missed out on it.
Poker fans of Obrestad would have been nervous, as she has announced her decision to take a break from the game for a short period. Obrestad was leading at the final table of the EPT Dublin championship but luck was not on her side as she took on Reuben Peters in heads up play.
The last hand in the tournament smashed her dream of winning the championship as she made an all in call holding
against a flop of
. Unfortunately for her Reuben Peters was holding
and the remaing cards
were no help to Annette.
This was a major disappointment to Annette and to the watching crowd who couldn’t believe that Reuben Peters had overcome a huge chip deficit to beat Obrestad to the title.
The 19-year Norwegian seemed disappointed with her performance at the final table and said that she very much wanted to win the title and the second place prize money of EUR €297,800 didn’t seem much comfort to her.
Obrestad has had an outstanding year at just the tender age of 19 years old she has burst onto the Live Poker scene after being a big name in the internet poker world for some time. She amazed all as she took down the first ever World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) main event in London and with it over one million pounds.
The player’s decision to take a break from the game comes after she traveled to a number of different locations after her victory at the WSOPE in London. Obrestad wants to spend some time relaxing in her hometown Sandnes, Norway, that will refresh her from her hectic schedule over the past few months. The player also wants to find a home to buy for which has been searching for over the past few months. Annette is a poker addict though and even during her break you won’t be able to stop her from playing online poker.
