Playtech plans take over of European online gaming scene
Tuesday, November 27, 2007 | Adrian Milewski
Playtech is a well known provider of popular online casino and bingo software, and has driven the online gaming to new peaks through its software advancements over the years.
Playtech also operates online poker software called iPoker that is the backbone of a number of favorite online poker sites such as Titan Poker and CD Poker. Although the basis of the platform is the same for all these websites, the design of each of the poker rooms has been such that there is a lot more to each site than meets the eye.
The reason behind Playtech’s recent fame is their aim of acquiring the control over major European gaming companies and expanding the Playtech and iPoker networks.
The objective of this is to develop into the single largest and most acclaimed online gaming portal. Although this ambitious step has come out at a time when the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which was passed in the United States, has added complexity to the market
Playtech is a UK listed company and its shares have undergone significant swings with the shares currently trading at around 332p. The company has also to license its software with more high profile names such as Mansion and PKR which will further expand the Playtech and iPoker network.
