Action from Sunday 10th September
The action is complete from the weekend’s big internet tournaments. Let’s take a look at what happened at each of these tournaments.
Pokerstars Sunday Million
This was the final Sunday Million tournament for a little while as it now takes a break to make way for The World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) schedule. The weekly showcase Sunday Million tournament with a buy-in of $200+$15 attracted 5,375 entries this week which meant a total prize pool of $1,075,000. A total of 750 places made the money.
When the final table began the big stack was ‘luchador420’ who took over 3m chips to the final table. Shortly after he increased his stack to over 4m which was double what the second place player had.
’luchador420’ wasn’t content with that and extended his lead even further when his pocket kings survived a showdown against the A-K of ‘sideshowgil’ which increased his chip stack to over 6m and way out in the lead over the other players
A tussle to keep up with ‘luchador420’ then occurred with a number of players starting to make a push with ‘STNCOLDKILLR’ knocking out ‘arzCARDSfan’ in fifth when he held the better two pair to his opponent leaving him in a strong second place position. ‘Yankees31’ was the next to depart leaving just 3 players remaining but the third placed ‘HelmetSky’ was left shortstacked. Despite doubling up once ‘HelmetSky’ was soon knocked out in third place by the table dominator ‘luchador420’
During heads up play the massive chip lead of ‘luchador420’ was never really threatened and the final hand eventually saw ‘STNCOLDKILLR’ push with 10-9 of clubs and being called by the K-4 of hearts from ‘luchador420’. The board came 5-3-Q-3-7 with no flush cards and ‘luchador420’ took the first prize of $165,000.
