Helmuth Movie - Christensen to play Lead Role

Rumours flying around the internet are suggesting that Hayden Christensen has been lined up to play the lead role in the new Phil Helmuth movie ‘Madison Kid’.
Christensen is widely known for his role as Anakin Skywalker in the Star Wars movies and although Madison Kid isn’t expected to quite achieve the same box office figures as Star Wars it is a great achievement for the film makers to have landed such a well known actor as Christensen.
Madison Kid is going to be a film about the life story of the poker world’s most famous poker ‘brat’ Phil Helmuth. In fact the original title of the film was originally going to be ‘Poker Brat’ but has since changed to its current title of Madison Kid named after Helmuth’s home town of Madison WI.
This film has been eagerly anticipated by poker fans around the world due to the interesting and eventful career of one of poker’s best known superstars. The film will chronicle the amazing success that Helmuth has enjoyed in his career including becoming the youngest ever winner of the World Series of Poker in 1989 at an age of just 24.
The film has been written by Bob Soderstrom who is a friend of Helmuth and is being produced by Beacon Pictures. It is due to commence filming in Spring 2007 and the location is expected to be Winnipeg, however Helmuth has made a last minute plea to try and get filming moved to his home town of Madison.
I’m sure we’ll hear more about this film as we move closer to filming, and as usual I’m sure Phil Helmuth will have plenty more to say on the matter in due course!
