Thumbs up The poker strategy, giving it a go blog

Hi all,

I smashed my heel on friday last and have been laid up at home since, so I decided to give this professor's poker strategy a go, then I thought why not post the results up and down on here as I looked through the forums and could not see anything like it.

my poker has been a hobby but I've read a few books and a lot online etc.

Anyway I started the poker strategy on pokerstars and PKR poker 3 days ago, so far on pokerstars I am at bankroll $48 so on my way to the target of $57 in section 3.7.

On PKR i have all ready reached 4.5 Building a Poker Bankroll Challenge *Stage 8* $92 to $117 as my last session ended on $95 but have had to play stakes 15/25c as there is no 10/20nl tables.

So far I would say that pokerstars has been the hardest as i have been up to $90 and then hit a losing run and had to go back down a level to work my way up again, maybe there are more fish on the stars site.

Anyway I am following the starting hand guide very strictly even though it is hard to drop a PP to a raise sometimes. I can see that patience and discipline are the main aspects to this strategy and the cards do indeed come around if you can just out wait the cold periods which can go on for hours sometimes then BANG you get half a dozen playable hands in an hour and hit your next target.

Has anyone actually reached the $1000 target with this guide, I would love to know!!! and how long did it take??

Well thats it for now I'm just off to log into PKR and attempt to reach the next target of $117. I will keep you posted.

Hi all,

Well after a couple of slip ups and AKs losing to 99 KK losing to AQ and QQ to 33 and droppind down a level I have had some good results and now bankroll has reached $150 so I shall be pushing on to the $170 to $220 level this week.

Unfortunately i am back to work so not so much time to dedicate to the wonderfull art.

BANKROLL NOW $184
Now reached the level 5.8 Building a Poker Bankroll Challenge $170 - $220, the final stage and moving up to a level never played at before. gettting here has not been too slippery as I followed the course religously, it is definately the right way to play. Another great help is finally understanding the pot odds maths which has saved me lots of bad calls.

bankroll now $221 so moving on to Stage 12 - $220 to $400.
I have found the 50nl level not as daunting as I imagined , there are plenty of people still making bad calls and playing out of position enough for me to make my profit at a steady level.
i have had to lay down AA twicer now to an all in bet on a flush/straight draw board, a dicipline i never had before this course.

After making great headway at 50nl , one session turned $50 into $198 I have moved onto the $100nl, after changing table I found KK in the whole in late position 2 off the button, facing a raise in front of me of $4.50 i re raised to $13 then hero raised allin, original raiser then calls allin , so i figured i,m up against AA at least, both allins were tight passive so i knew it was a coin flip but with $180+ in the pot I called, whole cards facing me was QQ and AKo, no help on the flop for any one, ther turn was a blank as was the river, BINGO $100 sit down 10 minutes ago is now $295, i was a happy chaP.

Bankroll now $700 and only $100 away from moving to $200nl, every time i think about the prospect of moving up I get hugely nervouse but then when I am there i find it not as bad as I thought, people are still playing out of position with dominated hands, chasing flushes when the odds are not in their favour. I just stick to the poker professors startegy religeosly and it has paid off at every step, the other night I laid down AA twice and KK once in one session, only to be justified when i saw what won the hand.

Hi Pagan,

Yes - lots of people achieve the $1,000 bankroll challenge - not everybody emails us to tell us they have achieved it but we get at least a few emails a month telling us about their success.

It seems like you are not too far away either - keeping my fingers crossed for you and let us know how you get on.
