Greetings from South Africa!
Started playing poker about 4 weeks ago, was doing OK, few up and down days. Was always relatively tight but knew nothing of starting hand charts and such. I could generally sit down and play for 2-3 hours and have fun but more often than not would stay more or less where i was to start. Occasionally i left the table with a few extra Rands (SA Currency) than i started with but nothing special. Started the challenge 3 days ago, i will admit i started with $50 because i was never too keen start play with less than 5x100xBB. So far it is going really fantastically!!!! I just closed Hollywood Poker and am sitting pretty on $69.95. and honestly the focus/discipline/motivation the guide has given me is incredible and what's more is I am having a lot more fun! Thank you to everyone involved! |

I have been playing poker for over 20 years. Online for about 5. I am always on the lookout for strategies to improve my online game. I think this is one of the best ones out there. Stick to it and you'll be a winer. Good luck

Hi both,
Thankyou for the nice comments about the course. Poker is all about discipline and patience - if you can control these two aspects of your game then you are well on your way to being a very successfull player. This is certainly one of the main messages we try to get across in the course. Keep us updated on your progress - I'm sure you'll have a few small downswings but keep positive - you seem to be well on your way!

Hi again, been a slow couple months. ;-) Work caught up with me and to a large extent squashed poker playing but back in the drivers seat and doing well again.
Up firmly into stage 5 at the moment with $74.65 ($24.65 up) so short $0.35 before I can expand my horizons and open an account with mansion poker or poker stars. I actually started my poker extravaganza with poker stars a while ago so might add some cash to that account. Just a little note, I have found that being out of it for so long discipline, but not so much patience, has taken a little dive. Suffered some bad beats to start with but it all came back after a couple hours. Another note, I have noticed quite often that my state of mind prior to loading up the app plays a big roll in my game. If I do not feel more than moderately enthusiastic about playing, getting into "the zone" is difficult. But if i am all goes screamingly well and the strategy is accessible a lot quicker than if not. ENough ramble from me, thanks for the support, will keep you posted. |

Hey Gav,
I've got the same thing. If i "force" myself to play poker it will go bad. But when I really want to play, all goes fine! I've accepted it and just don't play when I don't want to Keep us updated on your progress ok? Have fun(and a bit of luck)

just want to say its improved my game 2 fold, the only thing that keeps cracking me up is the chasers on hollywood, i lost 2 full stacks yesterday in 20 mins, can any1 tell me if i did anything wrong, first hand, im dealt a pair of 9s flop comes down 2c 9c 3h theres only 2 of us in the pot, this guy raises me $1 so i re £3 then he puts me allin i call hes got 2 clubs in his hand , river comes down another club, im beat, did i do the right thing. then a few hands later im dealt ak off suit im in big blind 2 people limp in. so i raise to 40c first guy folds then the last guy in the pot, raises me to 80c, i reraise to £1.50, then he puts me allin, i call hes got 2/3 flop comes with a 3 in it and i get beat is that just bad luck or did i make a mistake should i have called the all in any info would be great as it really did my head in.thanks

Thats the thing with lo stakes... i hated it... but still you should try not going all in... think that with AK you could have lost to a 22 so you should have seen the flop and then make some thinking and betting or folding.
With the 9's situation, i dont think you played it wrong but again its the thing about lo stakes many people chase everything... i always knew that if something like 2 of the same came out i would try to leave him out of the pot but only with the bet size needed, and not go all in. Hope this can help you. |
