Default Poker legends?

Who are the greatest legends of poker? My knowledge of poker consists mostly of playing and trying not to mess up a good hand. I was wondering if there were any great players out there who could be called a legend in the poker world.

Doyle Brunson, TJ Cloutier, and Mike Harrington come to mind right off the bat. Johnny Chan, though I don't know if they call him a legend, he is one of the all-time greats. And then there's Phil Helmuth and Mike Matisow - legendary brats. I guess it depends on your point of view. But Texas Dolly (Brunson) is often called a Living Legend.

Well you have Brunson who is a legend, then you also have Helmuth and Chan who have matched Brunson's achievements at the WSOP.

Older day legends would have to be topped by Stu Ungar who some still say is the best player they have ever seen and having seen a couple of old WSOP I have to agree that he was pretty impressive.

I have heard of Tj Coutier and saw Helmuth play a few hands on tv. I saw 1997 clip of Stu Ungar winning the WSOP. He is a great player.

I recently saw a televised tourney where one of the players said that after Stu Unger there were no more legends - he said "Unger is #1 and the rest are all tied for second." Helmuth is more legendary for his tantrums than his play. He might be that good, but it's offset by the fact that he is also that surly. I can't stand him or Matisow.

There are now also women who are becoming legends in their own right such as Barbara Enright, Kathy Liebert, Jennifer Tilly, Clonie Gowan to name a few.

And there are also legends in the making such as Daniel Negreanu, Chris Ferguson and many more.

I am not a big Phil Helmuth fan. He has the worst personality. Ofcourse I think he comes in second compared to Tony G. He talks the most trash I ever heard at a poker game.
