Default A Little Advice

I'm adding this here because I have a friend who came to the casino with me a couple of weeks ago. She has been playing online for a while but has only been going to B&M (Brick & Mortar Casinos) for a short while. She started out playing limit (even though she plays NL online). I didn't say much to her but that is definitely the wrong thing to do. Because the two are played in two different ways you should always stick to the one you know.

Anyway, the last time we went she decided she had enough of the limit tables and wanted to join me at the NL table. So she came over and she is one of the people that when she had a good hand she got so nervous she bet right out of turn and told the whole table she had a great hand.

When you are new to live cash games... ALWAYS REMEMBER... DO NOT TOUCH YOUR CARDS UNTIL IT IS YOUR TURN FOR ACTION. I told her that the dealer was there to tell her when it's her turn. All she has to do is take a quick look at her cards and say "Yes I know I'm just thinking". Everyone thinks about what they are going to do so no one will take her for a rookie.

That way she can be sure she doesn't give anything away. So she started to do just that and walked away from the table several hours later a winner. She is a good player she just was very very nervous as it was her first time.

Yes I have seen that happen so many times. She was lucky that you were friends enough with her to help her. A lot of people will just laugh and that makes the newbie that much more nervous cause they now know everyone saw the mistake and recognizes her as a newbie.

There are so many innuendos in a poker game, especially live, that you have to be careful of every move you make. More and more people are "reading" up on how things should be done so that when you sit at a table there could be a lot of newbies at the same table but a lot of them take their time because they read it.

However, I have seen them with their hands shaking so much they drop their chips and then knock over the stack in front of them trying to sit back and relax.
