I am still working on a strategy but someone mentioned that I should figure out if I should fold or keep going based on the probability of my cards. How do I do that? Lets say I have a 2 and 5 in my hand prior to the flop. On the flop there is a Q, 4, 2. Normally I would just fold because it doesn't like I would have much of a chance other than the weak pair.

I am certainly no expert, but I would say that it is inadvisable to play a hand like 2-5 pre-flop!
Have a look at the poker strategy course on this site. I think chapter 3 or 4 cover stuff like pot odds and probabliity of hitting the winning hand (depending, of course, on what you assume the winning hand will be). It is very informative. As a quick guide you can use the 4 x 2 method to work out your probability of hitting your winning hand. Good luck, Gaz |
